The conference commenced with the opening speeches from Prof. Yan Hua, the Party Sectrtary of Tianjin Medical University, Prof. Xu Xun, the head of Chinese Vitreo-Retina Society, Prof. Wong Tien Yin, the formal medical director of Singapore National Eye Centre and the founding head and chair professor of Tsinghua Medicine and Prof. Li Xiaorong, the medical director of Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital. They emphasized the increasingly influential role of Tianjin International Retina Day in the retinal specialist community and the importance of consistent learning and communication with a global perspective.

Afterwards, the conference proceeded with the keynotes lectures from Prof. Wong Tien Yin, Prof. Li Xiaoxin, Prof. Yin Zhengqin, Prof. SriniVas R.Sadda, Prof. Yan Hua, Prof. Hossein Nazari, Prof. Colin Barnstable, Prof. Calvin Pang and Prof. Wai-Ching Lam. The lectures covered the advancement in surgical technique, genetic treatment in theory and practice.

The afternoon section of the conference focused on clinical treatment with surgery and medicine. Prof. Edmund Wong, Prof. Chen Youxin, Prof. I-van Ho, Prof. Yang Liu, Prof. Zhao Peiquan, Prof. Lu Fang, Prof. Timothy Lai, Prof. Yu Suqin and Prof. Zhang Xinyuan gave their lectures and demonstrated their recent development and attempts in surgical technique for retinal diseases.
